Works independently in coordination with other Cardiovascular Services and KRH staff, cardiologists and other physicians, to provide onsite and/or mobile Cardiac Sonographer services. Performs a variety of cardiac procedures utilizing ultrasound equipment care to adult age patients.

Responsibilities

  1. *Exhibits Technical expertise in the field of Adult Echocardiography.
  2. *Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of cardiac anatomy.
  3. *Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of acquired heart disease.
  4. *Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of Adult 2D and 3-D imaging, M-mode Doppler, and color flow exam.
  5. *Demonstrates knowledge of the appropriate use of contrast for Echo.
  6. *Exhibits Technical expertise in performing Stress Echocardiograms (Treadmill and Dobutamine),
  7. *Assists the physician with Transesophageal Echocardiography, Intraoperative Echo,
  8. *Performs patient exams using Echocardiography. Travels to patient floors as needed to perform the echograms.
  9. *Travels to outreach clinics to perform echocardiograms.
  10. *Performs clerical duties, data entry, paperwork and answers/triages phone calls.
  11. *Fully understands, qualifies under and adheres to the KRH Vehicle Safety Policy A809, as well as all State and Federal laws governing vehicle use. Follows all KRH policies and procedures.

Qualifications

  1. Graduate of an approved, accredited school of Ultrasound Technology required. 5+ years of Adult Cardiac Ultrasound experience preferred.
  2. ARDMS Registry in Adult Echocardiography required within twelve months of being employed with KRH.
  3. HCP BLS required. ACLS preferred.
  4. The position will require completion of:
  • Continuing education to ensure ongoing competency in adult   echocardiography and to meet all ARDMS/RDCS requirements.
  • Implementation of Policies and Procedures used in Adult Echocardiography.
  1. Current valid Montana Driver’s License, a good driving record, valid liability insurance, and a reliable vehicle.
  2. Capable of multi-tasking to maintain daily patient workload, i.e., STAT Echocardiograms, add-on procedures.
  3. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written required. Self-starter with proven organizational skills required. Must be able to think and function independently, as well as a team member.
  4. Equipment and systems experience including; but not limited to:
  • Familiar with a wide range of ultrasound systems related to the above examinations and the integration into a functional Echo lab providing a wide range of inpatients (including ICU and operating room) and outpatient services.
