Clinical Technicians


The Environmental Services Housekeeper performs a wide range of cleaning duties in all areas of the hospital (including patient rooms, c-section rooms and other clinical areas) using specialized housekeeping equipment and chemicals.   Ensures a clean, safe, and aseptic environment for patients, staff and the public. Must possess the ability to interact as part of the Environmental Services Team in a positive and constructive manner.


  1. Complete all housekeeping duties and assignments with thoroughness and accuracy while paying attention to detail. Without specific direction, the employee looks for and performs duties which enhance the corporate environment, including but not limited to::
    1. carpet edges are dust free
    2. flies are removed from light fixtures
    3. hallway pictures are dusted
    4. remove stickers from chart holders
    5. scuff marks on doors are removed
    6. patient garbage’s are emptied at other than routine times
    7. refrigerator maintenance (inside and out)
    8. handrails are cleaned
  2. Take initiative to complete tasks and follow through without reminder. (Example: notices a carpet stain and cleans/puts in work order without being asked).
  3. Adhere to infection control guidelines as well as observes confidentiality and safeguards for all patient related information.
  4. Routinely stock housekeeping carts and ensure carts are in an orderly manner at the end of each shift.
  5. Choose the correct cleaning supply for the task at hand and follow manufacture instructions for use.
  6. Utilize and maintain equipment and hospital resources appropriately and safely.
  7. Responsible for their time, time clock uses, and appropriate utilization of department and organization resources.
  8. Interact courteously with all patients and visitors when cleaning throughout the corporation, as evidenced by customer service scores/comments and thank you notes. (examples include: talking with patients when cleaning rooms, offering directional support to visitors and looking for ways to help visitors and patient throughout the corporation).
  9. Answer all pages politely and in a timely manner (2 – 5 minutes after receipt).
  10. Must be flexible and organized while functioning calmly and efficiently in a changing environment. Adapt to the changing rules and regulations in the housekeeping environment, understanding and utilizing current technology as related to position.
  11. Assist other members of the team, never saying “it’s not my job.” Practice team member etiquette, offer assistance to busy staff members, discuss problems/issues with leadership and appropriate team members involved (mail to the right address), and mentor new staff with compassion and patience.

*12. Contribute positive ideas which enhance work flow and/or team function while accepting and following departmental changes with a positive attitude.



  1. One to three years of prior experience as a Housekeeper/Housekeeping Aide preferred.
  2. Ability to follow written and oral instructions required.
  3. Proven ability to be self-motivated as well as establish working relationships with patients, co-workers, and other KRH staff.
  4. Knowledge of the proper use of commercial cleaning equipment and devices preferred.
