Performs a variety of medically related clerical, accounting and billing tasks to facilitate the smooth flow of patients. This position strives to ensure accuracy and timeliness in all phases of the billing and collections processes.

 

Responsibilities

  1. *Performs insurance billing and clerical duties which include, but may not be limited to:
    1. Resident’s and/or responsible party billing inquiries and issues.
    2. Billing insurance accurately and timely.
    3. Following up on balances due.
    4. Process accurately all charges and payments.
    5. Review and record charges and Medicaid payments.
    6. Review denials and adjustments.
  2. *Reviews and verifies resident information for benefits and initiates pre-certification of stay in facility.
  3. *Prepares Accounts Payables and processes for payment.
  4. *Reconciles Trust Account operations to bank statements in reference to deposits. Balances cash drawers for both Petty Cash and Patient Trust funds.
  5. *Prepares and distributes statements to guarantor (resident or responsible party).
  6. *Assists with monthly Meditech billing and other end of month processing as required.  
  7. *Performs follow-up to Long Term Care Office,  contacts client to confirm compliance, etc.
  8. *Initiates collection procedures for unpaid balances, to include sending letters and submitting to outside collection agency.
  9. *Demonstrates the ability to maintain accurate census records on a daily basis.
  10. *Performs patient registration duties and other clerical duties as needed.

Qualifications

  1. Minimum of one (1) years’ recent experience in a similar position preferred. Other combinations of education and experience may be considered
  2. Possess and maintain computer skills to include working knowledge of Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and ability to learn other software as needed.
  3. Demonstrates excellent communication skills.   Including the ability to follow written and verbal instructions required.
  4. Must be detail-oriented, a self-starter, possess ability to set priorities and function as part of a team. Possess ability to use good judgment, maintaining confidentiality at all times.
  5. Knowledge of principles and methods of bookkeeping to include knowledge and understanding of accounting principals and processes.
  6. Ability to 10-key by touch preferred. Demonstrated knowledge of modern office practices, procedures and equipment.
  7. Proven ability to handle the flow of a considerable volume of detailed work.
