The Clinical Practice Lead position leads, assists, and trains staff in all clinical and scheduling functions. Promotes a positive, professional practice image by the efficient performance of a variety of clinical and clerical tasks designed to facilitate the smooth flow of patients and work throughout the practice. Assists the physicians/providers with the examination and treatment of patients.


  1. *Leads assigned clinical staff as assigned, effectively managing daily clinical operations to ensure optimal patient flow, provider productivity, patient safety, and excellent care. Monitors and coordinates scheduling for providers at local and outreach facilities. Communicates any changes needed in physician scheduling appropriately.
  2. *Oversees clinical support staff in completing pre-procedure chart prep/review, scheduling provider consultations as needed, and providing patient education for procedures by following protocols approved by the Medical Director.
  3. *Functions as an LPN/CMA as needed to include, but not limited to; rooming patients, taking vitals, documenting patient histories, reconciling current medications, assisting providers in examinations, facilitating provider orders for labs and diagnostic imaging, providing patient education, assisting providers with medication prescribing, refills, and prior authorizations.
  4. *Provides assistance and troubleshooting to team members regarding patient care, clinic workflow, technology, unusual/difficult situations, etc. Utilizes resources, training, and expertise to effectively solve the situation, seeking assistance when appropriate.
  5. *Implements verbal and written physician orders and treatments, accurately and efficiently as noted by chart reviews and observation. Consistently problem solves any issues affecting patient care.
  6. *Follows triage protocols determined by Medical Director. Documents in notes all telephone encounters. Documents all medication refills per office policy and per triage protocols. Communicates with providers regarding telephone requests and documents accordingly. Responsible for developing and maintaining DHIM clinical process manual, updating as new policies and procedures become available.
  7. *Schedules regular meetings with the clinical staff to promote better communication and guidelines within the department. Completes daily rounding; documents and reports key metrics and timely information to department leadership.
  8. *Maintains schedules of clinical staff for smooth operation and proper coverage. Assists with timekeeper duties as requested by manager.
  9. *Responds to a changing workload in a positive and professional manner.   Conducts oneself in a professional and courteous manner suited to the overall philosophy and history of the business. Works to set the desired example for staff to function effectively within the leadership team, and projects a professional and helpful attitude at all times with all those connected to the business.
  10. *Partners with the Manager and clinic leadership team in recruitment, training, and building productive relationships with staff members. May assist leadership and HR to ensure timely conflict resolution/corrective action, giving attention to policies and needs of the organization. Assists with timekeeper duties as requested by manager.
  11. *Participates in short and long range planning for the department. Supports annual budgeting process and works with management to ensure that clinical resources, staffing, and expenses are utilized within budgetary constraints. Regularly assesses clinical supply inventories and expiration dates, ordering needed supplies in a timely manner.
  12. *Works closely with the KRMC Quality team to assure providers attain maximum Quality reporting levels.


  1. LPN or CMA certification(s) as required by guidelines. Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in similar position within a medical setting (e.g., physician office, clinic,) preferred.
  2. Must possess knowledge of duties/scope of practice to support optimal patient care; knowledge of basic medical office procedures, processes, and medical terminology.
  3. Healthcare Provider CPR required.
  4. Possess knowledge and understanding of equipment, supplies, and instruments used in a medical office.
  5. Knowledge of simple routine clinical laboratory methods, universal blood and body fluid precautions; OSHA rules and regulations, established protocol for storing oxygen, disposing of medications used in clinic, restrictions imposed by various managed care carriers, various forms inherent to profession; patient confidentiality regulations.
  6. Minimum of two (2) years leadership experience is preferred. Understanding of leadership best practices and proactive team/individual development and conflict resolution. Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
  7. Must communicate effectively and maintain cooperative relationships with providers, staff members, patients and the medical community. Ability to employ tact, diplomacy and compassion with all types of people. Possess ability to work independently as well as part of a team in an organized and structured manner.
