This Fitness Programming Coordinator develops, coordinates, and implements the Land & Aquatic fitness programs. This position works in cooperation with the Land & Aquatic fitness staff to insure safe and correct class content.


  1. *Provides group fitness and other instructional classes for members and guests.
  2. *Oversees Land & Aquatic group exercise staff. Organizes and facilitates staff meetings, and assists in the scheduling and coverage of assigned fitness staff to maintain appropriate levels of staffing for all classes/events.
  3. *Provides feedback regarding staff performance evaluations and opportunities for on-going staff improvement via verbal and written feedback to assigned leadership.
  4. *Participates in the selection of new staff. Verifies that all new hires and existing staff are current on all certifications. Works with HR to validate and maintain certification records in personnel file for audit purposes.
  5. *Maintains appropriate levels of classroom supplies and coordinates repairs according to budget guidelines.
  6. *Develops marketing, strategic planning and budgets in conjunction with Health Improvement and Business Development Supervisor.
  7. *Oversees the Aquatic Exercise and Arthritis programs and instruction. Ensures classes meet instructional standards and minimum participation levels. Evaluates programs and associated instruction to monitor quality and efficiency of instruction and refines program processes as needed.
  8. *Responsible for web site content and ensures content is current and accurate.
  9. *Responsible for scheduling of workshops and training sessions with outside vendors. Ensures schedule is current and posted daily.
  10. *Functions as facility supervisor when scheduled and/or requested; as such will open and/or secure building, respond to emergency situations, enforce Land & Aquatic fitness staff are in compliance with safety and that patrons needs are met according to all Summit policies and procedures.
  11. *Responsible for scheduling all studio use


  1. Nationally recognized Group Exercise/Fitness Certification preferred or must successfully obtain within one (1) year of hire.
  2. Current HS AED CPR certification. (Must attain certification within 90 days of hire)
  3. Minimum of two (2) years of Group Fitness leadership and instructional experience in the areas of aerobics, aquatic aerobics, group cycling, or other group fitness instruction preferred.
  4. Experience in building and supporting strong team work and collaborative, respectful communication.
  5. Possess ability to make independent judgments under stressful situations at times. Must work effectively and efficiently without direct supervision.
  6. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, required. Possess ability to communicate orally to individuals and small groups.
  7. Possess and maintain computer skills to include working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn other software as needed.
