Overview

Promote a positive and professional practice image. Perform a variety of medically related clerical, accounting and billing tasks to facilitate the smooth flow of patients through the practice. Perform duties ranging from patient registration and check out to other duties as required. Employee must be a team member in all aspects of the job.

Responsibilities

*Serve as a patient advocate
*Answer telephones
*Schedule and register patients as well as electronically checking out patients
*Perform duties related to patient billing
*Collect and process payments, may include preparation and delivery of daily deposit
*Verify/input patient demographics in the computer system
*Open, sort and distribute mail
*Perform all aspect of medical record processing
*Lock and unlock clinical doors
*Inventory of clerical supplies
*Perform Clinic Office Clerk I duties as required.

Qualifications

High school graduate or equivalency desired; other combinations of education and experience may be considered. Customer service skills required. Minimum of 1 year experience in a medical office, clinic, or other customer service setting preferred. Proficient in eClinical Works software preferred.

 

Knowledge of modern office methods, clerical equipment, operations and process.  Fundamental knowledge of basic billing procedures. Possess understanding of confidentiality, referrals and insurance EOB scanning. Knowledge of medical terminology and of medical records.

 

Ability to be a team player, employ a positive attitude and adapt as needed. Must be able to employ tact, diplomacy and compassion with all types of people. Maintain cooperative relationships with staff members, patients and providers. Ability to operate or learn to operate automated systems and other office equipment. Must possess strong written, verbal and interpersonal skills. Good communication skills. Maintain organized and accurate records. Ability to understand the mission of the clinic and to implement it into daily activities.
