  • Overview

    The Ambulatory Clinical Quality Data Abstractor supports clinical performance improvement initiatives related to quality improvement, accreditation and regulatory requirements within KRH primary care and specialty clinics.   Work processes include billing assessment, data abstraction, review, and reporting of electronic medical record clinical documentation.   \


    This is a Part-Time postiion, 20-hours per week.  Schedule is flexible.


    1. *Abstracts moderately complex clinical quality data utilizing multiple electronic medical record systems in accordance with established quality reporting guidelines.
    2. *Maintains abstracting volume to meet internal and external reporting deadlines.
    3. *Reviews patient non-compliance lists and communicates to clinic staff in an effort to ensure timely disease specific and wellness visits.
    4. *Effectively tracks outstanding issues, follows through to a timely resolution and communicates unresolved issues.
    5. *Seeks out and accepts guidance from those with advanced experience, including interacting with providers, other clinicians, and assigned leadership. Provides guidance and/or support as needed. Acts as a role model to other team members.
    6. *Collects and tracks monthly, quarterly and annual process improvement/quality measure data.
    7. *Conducts analysis of data in collaboration with Quality & Safety Services team to assist in identification of improvement activities.
    8. *Presents data collected in an organized format to facilitate analysis and identification of improvement opportunities.
    9. *Accesses Protected Health Information (PHI) at the highest level of integrity, judgment and confidentiality.
    10. *Demonstrates exemplary written and verbal communication skills.


    1. Associates degree and/or relevant clinical certification in Health Information Management, Data Informatics, Nursing, or other clinical programs preferred.    
    2. Knowledge of medical terminology, CPT and ICD-10 codes required.
    3. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, required.
    4. Minimum two (2) years ambulatory clinical work experience preferred.
    5. Must possess and maintain computer skills to include working knowledge of Word, Outlook, Excel, and ability to learn other software, as needed.
    6. Previous experience with electronic medical record systems preferred.
    7. Must be detail-oriented, a self-starter, possess ability to set priorities, and function as part of a team. Possess ability to use good judgment, maintaining confidentiality at all times
