    This position is responsible for physician scheduling, workflow, performance measures, regulatory compliance, and the overall management of the Hospitalist Program and the Supportive Care Program to achieve expert care, superb service, and superior outcomes for Kalispell Regional Healthcare (KRH) and North Valley Hospital (NVH). This position serves as the liaison with Cabinet Peaks Medical Center (CPMC) – overseeing the Telemedicine Hospitalist Program linking KRH with CPMC. Works in collaboration with the Hospitalists, Supportive Care Team and Case Management to promote coordination of care processes that facilitate level of care transfers and discharge planning, and works with the administration at KRH, NVH, and CPMC regarding strategic planning, program development, continuous quality improvement and financial/budget reporting and monitoring.

    Job Specific Duties:

    1. *Human Resources: Creates a supportive department culture by fostering individual motivation, coaching and training for optimum job performance. Collaborates with Human Resources to ensure each employee has the required and appropriate license and certification(s). Gives direction without conflict. Anticipates staff problems and takes preventive measures. Analyzes and responds to employee turnover taking appropriate steps to maintain high employee morale and satisfaction. Educates employees on timekeeping policies and procedures to ensure accuracy. Reviews and approves the bi-weekly payroll for department employees. Responsible for completing 6-month and annual performance evaluations with employees on or before their due date for all employees supervised by the unit manager. Creates job descriptions and job standards for each position and monitors to ensure accuracy. Plans work schedules and assigns work to staff to ensure adequate service and coverage.
    2. *Directs and supports the needs of the Hospitalist Program at KRH, NVH, CPMC, and the Supportive Care Program at KRH.
    3. *Ensures optimum patient services within the inpatient setting. Responsive to patient concerns and fosters an environment of immediate service recovery. Drives culture to improve patient experience and internal and external customer service.
    4. *Maintains active involvement in the recruitment and retention of high quality physicians dedicated to inpatient medicine. Establishes processes to ensure all new hospitalists are oriented and supported in their new positions.
    5. *Responsible for physician scheduling at assigned hospitals to ensure 24 hour hospitalist coverage. Monitors patient census and acuity at assigned facilities to ensure adequate coverage.
    6. *Assists in developing and carrying out protocols/benchmarks for clinical services provided through the hospitalist program as well as a reporting mechanism to ensure timely outcome data.
    7. *Directs budget process for the hospitalists. Processes all accounts payable invoices in a timely manner.
    8. *Works with providers to ensure accurate documentation of services and medical information to ensure communication, continuity of care and accurate billing and coding.
    9. *Monitors and ensures compliance with all required legal and governmental reporting regulations.
    10. *Supports the activities and needs of the hospitalists by providing appropriate resources, scheduling, recruitment, and compensation oversight. Conducts meetings and disseminates valuable information.

     

    Qualifications

    1. Bachelor’s degree and three (3) year’s management experience in a clinical setting preferred. Other combinations of education and experience may be considered.
    2. Minimum of two (2) year’s experience in planning, organizing, delegating and supervising a physician practice or similar entity required.
    3. Proven ability to take initiative, exercise independent judgment, and proactively problem-solve.
    4. Demonstrated ability to maintain harmonious working relationships while addressing complex and sensitive administrative issues.
    5. Skill in researching, preparing, interpreting and presenting comprehensive reports.
    6. Knowledge of Case Management Processes, health care administration practices, government and reimbursement regulation and requirements and HIPAA guidelines.
    7. Knowledge of computer systems and medical software and applications.
