    The Staff Accountant II performs accounting functions for Kalispell Regional Healthcare Physician Network (KPN) and related entities. Accounting duties may include; provider dashboard preparation, hospital and clinic accounting, budgeting and strategic planning, productivity reporting, month-end accounting close processes, external audit support, financial statement preparation and analytical review. The Staff Accountant II must maintain strict confidentiality regarding patients, employees, business records, and other work-related activities.


    *Oversees operating budget process for assigned KRH clinics. Ensures manager(s) adheres to budget timeline. Reviews budget packet with manager(s), which includes assumptions, historical financial data, department staffing data and statistics.


    *Educates manager(s) regarding available tools to assist with budget preparation. Directs manager(s) in preparation of revenue, contractual terms, property tax, depreciation, interest, bad debt and other expenses that require additional information and knowledge.


    *Reviews completed budget with manager(s) to ensure completeness and accuracy. Prepares manager(s) for review with Director of KPN, respective Administrator and Chief Financial Officer (CFIO).


    *Conducts operational analysis, and develops and implements turnaround initiatives. Assists department manager(s) with questions from Leadership concerning variances. Oversees and develops with manager(s) the formal variance report for assigned clinics to be submitted to the Director or Administrator for inclusion in the Administrative Team variance reports.


    *Prepares weekly and monthly productivity metrics for assigned KRH clinics.


    *Educates manager(s) on productivity reports and tools available to assist with variance explanations. Leads manager(s) investigation of variances from budget, prior year and benchmark data as applicable.


    *Encourages manager(s) to be proactive in investigating and implementing turnaround staff changes where required. Assists manager(s) with variance explanations to Director. Ensures explanations are submitted to Director on a timely basis. Directs variance reporting process for assigned KRH clinics.


    *Processes and analyzes monthly activity and prepares detailed spreadsheets for journal entries for KRH clinics.


    *Estimates contractual adjustments for KRH clinics as part of month end close process.


    *Prepares provider pay requests in accordance with employment agreements.


    *Performs general ledger account reconciliations. Maintains and ensures appropriate support documentation and records accompany entries and reconciliations of the general ledger for Director review.



    Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.


    CPA license or CPA candidate preferred.


    Minimum of three (3) years of accounting experience required to include, but not limited to financial statement knowledge and understanding; spreadsheet preparation, etc..


    Hospital accounting experience preferred.


    Possess and maintain computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office and proficiency in Excel required. Meditech and EPSI experience preferred.


    Excellent written and verbal communication skills required to interact professionally with department leaders and present information to Director and Administrators clearly.


    Must be able to multi-task and perform accurate, quality work with interruptions and minimal supervision. Ability to prioritize changing workload and possess outstanding time management skills.

    Must possess problem solving skills, ability to follow directions, understand and review work, and use judgment
