  • Overview

    Responsible for providing quality occupational therapy services set by state practice guidelines, Medicare and BH policies. Meets legal, ethical and institutional standards while adhering to the philosophy, objectives, policies and procedures of the department and organization


    1. *Effectively plans, supervises, delegates and instructs nursing aides, Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants, OT students, new OT graduates, recently hired OTs and other staff members in an effort to provide services in a competent and efficient manner.
    2. *Administers OT treatment to patients relative to age, culture and conditions of patients served by Brendan House.
    3. *Implements specific and individualized treatment programs for patients according to the principles of OT, hospital policy and payer requirements.
    4. Completes all required documentation in a timely manner according to payer guidelines (Medicare, Private Insurance, Medicaid) and Montana practice guidelines for occupational therapy.
    5. *Effective communication skills in regards to all aspects of care, i.e. communication with patients, peers, family members, students and team members regarding OT related information.
    6. *Collaborates with patient, family and team to develop goals and discharge.
    7. *Enhances rehabilitation services by participating in projects/programs within the department, the facility and the community.
    8. *Achieves set productivity standards per department protocol.


    1. Current Montana OT license.
    2. Graduate of an accredited program of Occupational Therapy.
    3. Current BLS HCP CPR certification.
    4. Knowledge of and skilled in the use of materials and equipment, processes, procedures and techniques currently used in occupational therapy.
    5. Possess and maintain computer skills to include working knowledge of Word, Outlook, Excel and ability to learn other software as needed.
    6. Must communicate effectively and maintain cooperative relationships with providers, staff members, patients and the medical community. Ability to employ tact, diplomacy and compassion with all types of people.
    7. Ability to use good judgment, apply a high degree of integrity and maintain confidentiality at all times.
