The Registered Nurse - Practice assists the physicians/providers with the examination and treatment of patients and performs routine tasks as required to ensure the clinic runs smoothly.
*Performs provider support tasks to include, but not limited to; review of the daily schedule to ensure the appropriate provider is assigned to each patient for an adequate amount of time, anticipates each provider’s support needs, reviews loaded patient notes for accuracy and completeness prior to providers seeing patients and obtains missing information as needed. Triages patient requests for appointments to ensure that urgent patient needs are met. Ensures that patients receive necessary diagnostic tests prior to the scheduled visit. Communicates with physician any significant abnormal test results.
*Coordinates physician clinic, procedural and hospital scheduling in an accurate manner.
*Rooms and prepares patients for procedures as needed obtaining all necessary information related to the patient’s vitals, medications, medical history and current conditions.
*Ensures Fetal Monitors and blood glucose monitors are functioning accurately. Maintains equipment and instruments used for diagnostic procedures.
*Demonstrates an understanding of the perinatology patient population and the ability and willingness to support the patient and family while assisting with coordination of services along the continuum of care. Identifies community resource referrals and coordinates care with tertiary facility referrals.
*Provides assistance to the clinic providers and clinic team in an accurate, professional and courteous manner. Provides operational support in the form of accepting incoming calls related to abnormal diagnostics and/or lab results, alerts the physician/provider and schedules patient lab, imaging and procedure appointments as appropriate.
*Develops, implements and revises individualized, goal directed nursing care to patients through the use of the nursing process as appropriate for RN’s in the clinic setting.
*Responds to a changing workload and patient conditions in a positive and professional manner. Remaining calm, making objective assessments, prioritizing, and asking for assistance when appropriate.
*Transcribes, and implements physician orders and treatments, both verbal and written, accurately and efficiently as noted by chart reviews and observation.
*Consistently problem solves issues affecting patient care.
*Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of infection control procedures; strictly adheres to policies and procedures; washes hands before and after each patient encounter. Cleans, packages, sterilizes, and maintains ample supply of sterilized instruments and supplies for procedures. Thoroughly cleans exam rooms, counter, and table tops, per clinic policy.
*Collects, packages, and accurately labels all specimens immediately upon receipt; forwards to designated lab(s) according to established protocols.
Current Montana RN license. BSN is preferred.
Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in similar position within an obstetrical setting (eg, physician office, clinic, or hospital) required.
OB and/or Perinatal experience preferred.
Current Healthcare Provider CPR.
Knowledge of professional nursing theory – able to apply knowledge and evaluate patients.
Equipment, supplies, and instruments used in a medical office.
Simple routine clinical laboratory methods, universal blood and body fluid precautions.
OSHA rules and regulations.
Established protocol for storing poisons, narcotics, acids, caustics, and flammable items.
Restrictions imposed by various managed care carriers, various forms inherent to profession.
