    Selects all equipment and supplies needed for surgery and assists in preparing the OR suite for all Obstetrical related surgeries. Assists in cleaning between cases and maintains a good working knowledge of surgical asepsis. This position assists with non-operating room duties throughout the unit as needed

     

    Responsibilities

    1. *Prepares and maintains equipment and supplies for obstetric procedures to department standards.
    2. *Maintains the OB surgical suite in a state of readiness for emergency or scheduled procedures.
    3. *Effectively demonstrates knowledge and practical understanding of the principles of asepsis.
    4. *Facilitates the efficient operation of the OB operating room, ensuring a timely start to surgical cases.
    5. *Assists providers and nursing staff as directed.
    6. *Facilitates the care, cleaning, and sterile processing of instruments.
    7. *Maintains storage areas, to include removing post-dated and/or expired items.
    8. *Maintains patient rooms, and the stocking and restocking of supplies.
    9. *Completes room turnover after each delivery, including removal of delivery cart and soiled items.
    10. *Assists in obtaining vital signs and providing patient care for adult patients at the direction of the RN.
    11. *Performs function of the Health Unit Clerk as needed, including answering phones and call lights, and processing admission, discharge, and other obstetrical paperwork.
    12. *Performs scrub duties in the hospital’s main OR as needed.

     

    Qualifications

    1. Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program required.
    2. National Certified Scrub Technician licensure, required.
    3. Current American Heart Association BLS/CPR required.
    4. Minimum of two (2) years recent experience as a scrub technician, preferred.
    5. Obstetrical or gynecological experience, preferred.
