  • Overview

    The RN Clinical Supervisor promotes a positive and professional practice image.  Supervises and coordinates clinical nursing activities and staff within Pathways to provide a safe work and therapeutic environment.  Promotes positive relationships for patients, families, staff, and clinics. Recommends and develops policies and procedures, maintains staffing and other supervisory functions. Performs RN duties regarding safety, medications and patient education.


    1. *Participates effectively as part of the operations team. Demonstrates proactive, problem solving skills. Develops implements and revises individualized, goal directed clinical care to patients.
    2. *Responsible for supervision and evaluation of all nursing staff including Registered Nurses, LPNs, Mental Health Specialists, and Health Unit Clerk staff.
    3. *Implements and develops policies and procedures in collaboration with Leadership.
    4. *Participates and is an active member of Leadership at Pathways and KRMC.
    5. *Performs as an active member in all performance improvement activities.
    6. *Leads and oversees clinical education, improvement, and safety of the environment.
    7. *Oversees the scheduling and resource allocation per acuity tools, guidelines etc. Supervises productivity to ensure best utilization of resources. Provides nursing coverage as necessary.
    8. *Effectively and efficiently directs and develops staff education, leadership and advocates for nursing as appropriate while utilizing the Pathways unit council.
    9. *Works in collaboration with KRMC Nursing leadership and acts as a liaison for behavioral health throughout KRMC and KRH.
    10. *Responsible for supervision, training, coaching and mentoring of clinical staff.    Upon approval of manager, may assist with the hiring process,  preparation and delivery of evaluations and corrective action on assigned clinical staff. Responsible for coordinating work and earned time schedules to assure adequate coverage. Works with HR and Director on competency, performance and/or human resource issues.


    1. Current Montana RN license required. Master’s Degree in Nursing preferred.
    2. Minimum of three (3) years of supervisory experience in a behavioral health setting required. Possess leadership and effective communication skills. Ability to take initiative to evaluate and institute problem-solving on a daily basis.
    3. Minimum of five (5) years experience in a psychiatric and/or chemical dependency treatment facility required.
    4. Current CPR required. ANCC Psych certification preferred.
    5. Must possess professional communication skills, and work effectively with a diverse patient and coworker population. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, required.
    6. Possess and maintain computer skills to include working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn other software as needed.
    7. Knowledge of cultural, ethnic, social, historical and spiritual issues relevant to the provision of mental health treatment preferred.
