The Vice President of Logan Health – Conrad (Critical Access Hospital) will establish and achieve short and long term objectives and the overall viability of the organization.  Works in collaboration with assigned leadership to achieve and exceed hospital objectives, which provide a continual impact to the overall system goals.  Provides leadership, engagement, and organizational direction and management.  This role ensures strategies within areas of accountability are in alignment with the Logan Health Strategic Plan and goals.


Management Job Duties:


Strategic Execution

Drive organizational objectives by operationalizing changes and initiatives effectively and efficiently. Proactively anticipate both the needs of KRH and the impact operations has on the organization’s success. Collect and analyze data, prepare and present recommendations, and explain associated benefits and risks for improving operations.


Business Acumen

Demonstrate and further develop competencies in the areas of leadership, financial management, employee engagement, human resources knowledge, organizational dynamics and governance, organizational communication, strategic planning, change management, risk management, compliance, patient safety and quality improvement. Demonstrate professional ownership, self-development and a desire for life-long learning.



Emotional Intelligence

Serve as a role model for others by exhibiting the KRH core values: integrity, compassion, service, excellence and ownership. Lead and influence the team to provide outstanding customer service. Develop and foster relationships with other KRH leaders, departments and members of the team to support open communication, trust, transparency and collaboration.

Job Specific Duties:


  1. *Provides leadership that assures continuing efficient, fiscally-stable and medically-sound patient care.
  2. *Provides oversight of all aspects of fiscal operation related to hospital.
  3. *Develops strategies to meet hospital objectives such as budgeting, building reserves, capital planning, new projects and initiatives.
  4. *Performs evaluation and assessment of overall hospital operations.
  5. *Leads, develops, and holds individuals accountable to deliver positive results and meet individual and hospital goals.
  6. *Assures an organizational work climate of collaboration, creativity, innovation, and accomplishment for all hosptial objectives.
  7. *Establishes and maintains an effective organizational/management structure for areas of accountability.
  8. *Recommends for approval the annual objectives, strategic plans, and programs for effective long-range hospital development.
  9. *Enhances systems, processes, and business metrics required for tracking the key hospital performance measures needed to meet internal and external financial/growth targets and goals.
  10. *Maintains and promotes a clear view of the objectives and mission of the hospital while advancing the mission and strength of an intrical part of an integrated system of health services.
  11. *Leads in a manner to grow, develop, coach, and mentor direct reports. Develops leaders by defining roles/responsibilities, promoting continuous learning, education and training, and assessing performance.  Provides clear expectations and standard of accountability to ensure consistency with Logan Health’s mission, vision and core values.
  12. *Serves as the administrative representative/spokesperson for the assigned service area, representing the programs to all internal and external constituencies.
  13. *Performs as an integral part of operational analysis and decision making, including the development of annual budgets and policy positions. Monitors the quality, volume, and profitability of services, and initiates actions as necessary to maintain and improve these parameters.
  14. *Participates in professional organizations and related activities in order to keep abreast of practices in health, medical, and nursing care, and informs others of current trends.
  15. *Directs the design, implementation, and continuous evaluation of the hopital’s operations and processes in the context of continuous improvement.
  16. *Monitors the quality, volume, and profitability of services, and initiates actions as necessary to maintain and improve these parameters.
  17. *Ensures all areas of services and programs are in compliance with appropriate external regulatory standards and requirements.

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Management, Business Administration, or other related healthcare field required. Master’s degree in related field preferred.
  2. Minimum of seven (7) years’ of progressively responsible healthcare leadership experience required. Experience in employee and management relations, employment and recruitment, training and organizational development, benefit development, and administration.
  3. Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills required.
  4. Possess a strong working knowledge of all applicable employment laws, government regulations and policies which affect work conditions and the management of personnel. Proven ability to develop training topics and materials based on feedback from constituents.
  5. Knowledge of and experience with benchmarking, productivity and data systems. Ability to understand financial systems, manage costs, enhance revenue and assists in developing strategic direction.
  6. Possess ability to bring innovative solutions and drive change at hospital level.
  7. Ability to work effectively in informal and formal arrangements with individuals from diverse communities and cultures. Possess excellent consulting, facilitation
  8. Experience with capital planning, facilities maintenance, and inventory preferred.
  9. Comprehensive knowledge of healthcare delivery, operations, and financial management practices.
